Todmorden Council Tax Rise Is Lowest Ever
Todmorden residents will be paying some of the lowest council tax increases in the region. At last night’s Budget Meeting, councillors voted to peg council tax rises to 1.78%. It means that, from April nearly half of all households in the borough will find themselves paying less than £15 a year extra for council services.
Calderdale Council’s Leader, Cllr. Stephen Baines, says the 1.78% increase is the lowest ever in Calderdale.
“Once again, we have fought to keep council tax increases low. We will continue to ensure that every penny of council tax-payers hard-earned money counts towards maintaining front line services.
More than 40% of all households in Calderdale are rated in Band A for Council Tax valuation purposes. A couple living in a Band A property and not qualifying for any rebate will pay £826.20 per year.
The figures relate to Calderdale’ s increase only and do not include the Parish, Police and Fire Authority precepts.
