Temporary Move For Todmorden Library
Todmorden Library will be closed from Monday, March 1 for three to four weeks for repairs. A temporary library will be set up at Todmorden Town Hall while structural repairs and essential electrical works are carried out.
The library will be open as normal from 9.30am to 4pm on Saturday 27 February. It will be closed on Monday, 1 March and will reopen in the Town Hall on Tuesday 2 March at 9.30am. The work is expected to take three to four weeks.
Until 27 February, the library is open for business as usual, but plasterwork is being repaired near the front entrance so customers should go in through the side door. The ICT suite is also affected so computer use is limited to half hour booked slots.
The temporary library will offer a range of services including adult and children’s books, CD and DVD hire, photocopying, talking books and daily newspapers. There will be no computer access, but this is available nearby at Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd and Walsden Libraries.
Opening hours at t he temporary library are: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9.30am to 6.30pm, Tuesday 9.30am to 5pm, Thursday 9.30am to 1pm and Saturday 9.30 am to 4pm. For more information, please contact Roberta Crossley on 01706 816452 or 01706 815600.
Councillor Ian Cooper, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Safer and Stronger Communities, said: “The library was closed from 19 to 22 January for an assessment of the electrics. The report found a number of faults and it was recommended we close as soon as possible for repair work to begin. The Council apologises to customers for any inconvenience caused by the relocation, and we will do our best to offer as full a service as possible and keep people updated while the work is carried out.”
