In his article, Mr. Greenslade goes on to illustrate the problems facing Johnston Press, with advertising revenue on the wane, and a share price that has also fallen considerably from last year’s 393p to 58.50p on August 18th 2008, it seems that something has to give other than the company’s profit margins. And with debts built up during a vigorous period of acquisitions only compounding the problem, the Edinburgh based company’s financial situation is described as “parious”.
