Calderdale Tourism Visitor Guide 2009

A new 2009 Visitor Guide showcasing sights, attractions and days out in Calderdale, in the heart of Pennine Yorkshire, is now available in Tourist Information Centres nationwide. The 2009 Visitor Guide is produced by Calderdale Council and sponsored by the Halifax.

The 32-page glossy guide is packed full of colour photography, information for visitors and gems for days out with friends and family. It is available in Tourist Information Centres nationwide, and at local libraries and attractions – or download it at www.calderdale.gov.uk/visitorguide

Based in the heart of the Pennines, Calderdale is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the best Yorkshire has to offer. Whether you want to stride across open moorland, meander through wooded valleys, discover independent shops and galleries or soak up the local history, there’s something for everyone.

Councillor Amanda Byrne, portfolio holder for Regeneration and Development at Calderdale Council, said:-

“Calderdale has all the attributes of a unique and quality tourism destination, with tourism worth more than £240 million to the borough’s economy. By showcasing all the wonderful attractions on our doorstep, we hope the 2009 Visitor Guide will draw in even more visitors, both for days out and longer stays, to enjoy all that’s on offer.”

Councillor Ian Cooper, portfolio holder for Community Services at Calderdale Council, added:-

“Calderdale boasts a wide variety of attractions and events which we know are enjoyed all year round by residents and visitors alike. I am delighted to help launch the 2009 Visitor Guide and see our best sights and days out showcased for everyone to discover.”

Alex Barnett, spokesperson for the Halifax, said:-

“We are very proud once again to support the production of the Visitor Guide, and help promote Calderdale across the UK.”
