Facelift For Some Of Todmorden's Terraces
Work will begin shortly on a facelift of some prominent terraces close to the centre of Todmorden. Homes in terraces around Der Street are set for a stone clean and re-point. Other works will include new rainwater goods and improvement of communal courts behind the properties.
The work is being taken forward by Calderdale Council as part of its wider strategy of improving housing in Todmorden. This includes major investment in the Harley Bank area and also securing funds for new affordable homes at Railway Street, and on the site of the old police flats on Burnley Road.
Council Leader and Calder Ward Councillor, Janet Battye said:
“I am delighted that this work is starting. The terraces are in need of a good clean up which will make a more attractive gateway to the town and also support the development of adjoining vacant land. Some local residents have also been concerned about rainwater coming into their houses and needing help getting this sorted out.”
Work is scheduled to begin at the end of September. The work is being carried out by Termrim Construction and the contract is expected to take about 5 months.
