CMBC Easter Opening Hours

Many Calderdale Council services will remain open over the Easter holiday period for residents and visitors. Sports centres, museums and tourist information centres will be open over the Bank Holiday, including Bankfield and Heptonstall museums. Shibden Hall will be open from 10am to 5pm and the park will be open from 8am to 7pm every day.

Many of Calderdale’s libraries and leisure facilities will be open for all or part of the weekend, and you can still use online services over the holiday period at www.calderdale.gov.uk – including renewing library loans, commenting on planning applications, paying council tax, responding to a consultation, reporting problems and requesting services.

The council’s contact centre will be open until 5.30pm on Thursday 1 April. It will close for the bank holiday, re-opening at 8.45am on Tuesday 6 April. Customers can call the Contact Centre on 0845 245 6000 with any general queries, or to check if a service is available before making a special trip. If you need urgent assistance while the Contact Centre is closed please contact the Council’s out of hours emergency helpline on 01422 365101.

Easter events

  • Go wild with the RSPB at Shibden Estate, Halifax, from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 April, 11am to 7pm. Get up close and personal to the bird life. Binoculars will be provided and there will be craft activities for young children.
  • Shibden will be holding its Easter Eggstravaganza on Sunday 4 April, from 1pm to 4pm. Come along and join traditional Easter activities including arts and crafts, a bunny hunt, egg decorating and egg rolling.
  • Hunt the Easter egg at People’s Park, Halifax, from 1pm. Meet at the information centre.
  • Join a walk for World Health Day on Wednesday 7 April. Meet Moy Cash and Paul Birchall from North Halifax Green Action Project in Morrisons car park, Keighley Road, Illingworth, at 10am for a lift to Ogden Water followed by a 2.5 mile walk back to Morrisons.
  • Make Easter tree decorations at Manor Heath Park, Halifax, on Wednesday 7 April. Sessions run every half hour, from 1pm to 4pm. Suitable for children aged five to 13, although young children will need an adult to help. The cost is £2 per child and you can book in at the Jungle Experience reception.
  • Sparks Easter holiday fun is at Calderdale museums over the holidays. Take part in art and craft activities and try the Easter egg trail – free for families. Bankfield Museum, Wednesday 31 March and Wednesday 7 April, 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm. Halifax Visitor Centre and Art Gallery, Tuesday 30 March, 1-3pm. Brighouse Art Gallery Sunday 4 April, 1 to 4pm.
