Christmas Bonus For Local Charities
A total of £700 was raised for two local charities at Ogden Water Country Park. Councillor Ian Cooper presented a cheque for £350 to Overgate Hospice at the weekend. Another £350 was also presented to local charity Total Awareness Promotions.
The money was raised at this year’s Halloween Lantern Procession, which attracted nearly 2,000 people. Staff and volunteers from the two charities supported the event.
Also over the weekend, nearly 1,000 visitors flocked to Ogden Water to see Father Christmas. The country park has over 250,000 visitors every year, and was featured on the BBC’s Countryfile this week.
Councillor Ian Cooper, Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Safer and Stronger Communities, said:
“I was delighted to present these cheques. Ogden is a beautiful location and the perfect place to escape the crowds, get some fresh air and perhaps work off some of the excesses of the festive season with a walk around the water! Why not come along and see it for yourself.”
Ogden Water will be putting your old Christmas trees to good use this year by creating a ‘Christmas tree’ fence around the waters edge. Just bring your tree along from Christmas onwards.
