Diving In For Free Swimming In Todmorden
Members of Calderdale Council’s cabinet will discuss plans to offer free swimming for under 16’s when they meet on Monday 8th December. An annual grant of £103,325 would be made available by the Government to support the under 16’s scheme, which would run for two years from 2009 to 2011. However, the initiative could cost the Council £23,000 in 2009/10 and £27,000 in 2010/11.
The Right to March In Todmorden?
Calderdale Councillors are to decide whether to lobby the government so the people of Calderdale can honour any group of armed forces returning from war. Since 1974, the Council has been able to grant honorary freedom status to particular groups or individuals from the armed forces, but that does not include the right to march through Calderdale towns.
Calderdale Improving Adult Social Care
Adult social care services in Calderdale continue to improve, according to an official report released today. The report, produced by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), which takes account of all aspects of care delivery, also says Calderdale Council is well set for further improvement.
Recreating Todmorden's past
Visitors to Centre Vale Park in Todmorden can now learn more about its rich history. Calderdale Council’s park staff have been recreating the footprint of the Victorian mansion which once stood in the park. Low walls have been put in at strategic points and an interpretation sign is being installed to show the floor plan of former Centre Vale House.
